Grading System

Our Grading System is a part of our integrated Production Management & Control System, but it can also be used as a stand-alone system.

Our Grading System:

  • Provides comprehensive functionalities and comprise of ID/Live-weight Stations, Animal Health Stations, and Carcass Grading Stations.
  • Uses the same Grading System software module, with different operator input screens and functions being available according to the designated use of each station.
  • Is based on our own HEC Touchscreen computer connected to the network and to appropriate peripherals, such as track scales, barcode scanners and printers.
  • Allows carcass identification and tracking which can be enhanced by the use of RFID tags, with RFID readers connected to the KFS stations to automatically track carcass IDs.
  • Takes data from Product Specification and Outputs to the Scheduling and the Inventory modules.

ID/Live-weight Station

An ID/Live-Weight Station is located at the live weight scale after the knocking box.  The ID Live-Weight Station:
  • Creates the carcass inventory record for each animal, with other carcass data being appended later.
  • Can provide interfaces between the Slaughter Floor System and the NLIS and AQIS database to comply with the various regulatory requirements.

Animal Health Station

The Animal Health Station may be used as a single unit or, depending on slaughter floor lay-out; separate stations can be used for data input for body, head and offal.  The station is used for the input of animal health data, and has the ability to record both farmer and butcher damage to carcasses.

Carcass Grading Station

Grading data is entered manually via the touch screen and automatically from a track scale and devices such as a fat probe, with a carcass ticket produced at the completion of grading. The Grading System software on the Grading Station will also process data from an optional hot de-fat track scale.
