VIAscan^® Sheep Carcase System

The VIAscan^® Sheep Carcase System is a non-intrusive station on the slaughter floor operating automatically and assessing many attributes of a 'hot' dressed carcase as it passes along the slaughter chain.  A colour video camera captures the image of each carcase and via a computer system, accurate colour and dimensional measurements are taken of each carcase and related to important production traits.  These measurements provide a timely prediction of yield down to a primal basis and a range of carcase characteristics with world-class accuracy. The VIAscan^® Sheep Carcase System does not require an operator, and its operation is supervised by the operator at the Grading Station.
